DIRECT Neurofeedback is the leading-edge neurofeedback technology. Unlike older neurofeedback devices, DIRECT Neurofeedback device leads to enduring results in fewer sessions with patient’s often feeling a change after just the first sessions.
Previous variations of neurofeedback provide data to a patient/client about the current state of their brainwaves. However, the client/patient must use their own knack and willpower to alter this data long term. DIRECT Neurofeedback uses an FDA-approved EEG to read the client/patient’s brainwaves AND send an ultra-low, imperceptible electromagnetic signal directly to the outer tissue of the brain. The ultra-low signal sent by the EEG amplifier causes a slight, millisecond shift in the client/patient’s brainwaves. This brief variation in brainwaves allows the client/patient’s brain to reorganize itself, without conscious force from the client/patient. After repeat sessions, the change is enduring. On average less than half of the number of sessions are needed of DIRECT Neurofeedback verse traditional neurofeedback.

Help Brains Heal With Direct Neurofeedback Device
DIRECT Neurofeedback providers help client/patients unstick their brains from deeply, grooved habituated patterns. The results are relatively quick, often in one session, which can make the work quite rewarding. With balanced synapsis in the brain and less debilitating symptoms, client/patients can partake more fully in therapeutic and learning processes. Moreover, physical balance and reflexes can improve. Overall, DIRECT Neurofeedback providers help client/patients improve their quality of life more rapidly than without using the modality.

Professional and Clinical Feedback
Professional and Clinical Feedback
DIRECT Neurofeedback Device FAQS
Who can become a provider?
Anyone with a clinical license can purchase a system of Direct Neurofeedback. This includes physicians, therapists, nurses, acupuncturists, chiropractors and others. Technicians without a clinical license can administer sessions with clients, but they must be working under someone with a clinical license. The licensed clinician does not have to be in the room.
What additional support is there for a new provider?
A senior practitioner is available by email or phone. Special support is given to new providers. An on-line discussion where various questions and topics are addressed. A regular monthly blog, either written or by video. Educational webinars. All marketing materials (brochures, business cards, etc.) will be available to certified providers.
How do I integrate Direct Neurofeedback into my current practice?
A typical session is a half hour. It can be integrated into a standard therapeutic session or be a stand-alone intervention. Adding Direct Neurofeedback to your practice, opens you to serve new client populations, such as ADD/ADHD and autism, which may not have been part of your clinical practice.
What if a client is on prescription drugs?
Being on any drug, prescription or illicit, does not interfere with progress. Client/Patients tend to improve regardless of the drug or medication they may be taking.
Are there any “side effects”?
Standard side effects are tired, “wired” (usually giddy, sometimes anxious), spacey, headache, and rarely, nausea. These usually last for just a few minutes; occasionally a few hours; and rarely a day or so. These side effects are temporary 100% of the time. The provider lowers the “dose” on the next session and side effects are either gone or greatly diminished. Side effects are very rarely a significant issue during the protocol.
What do I have to do before I can start working with clients?
A potential provider must complete the online portion of training and go through a 2-day official Direct Neurofeedback course with a certified trainer and pass an exam.
Do I need to have a medical background?
Prior knowledge is not required, however, professional “people skills” and ability to think like a clinician in your particular field are necessary.
What happens in a typical session?
A typical session lasts half an hour. After taking a follow up history of events since the last session, the Provider cleans skin on the forehead, ears, and neck. Small sensors are applied. Based on the client/patient’s brainwaves, initial response is usually within a few minutes.
Is Direct Neurofeedback covered by insurance?
Insurance carriers consider both direct and traditional neurofeedback a form of biofeedback. Coverage varies state-by-state and carrier-by-carrier. Efforts are underway to make sure neurofeedback has better coverage in the future.
What kind of certificate will I be awarded with at the end of training?
At the end of the weekend new practitioners will be awarded a “Certificate of Competency.” This indicates they have been trained in the fundamentals of Direct Neurofeedback and are competent to use this technology. This certification is not officially “recognized” by any licensing body or official organization. It can give assurance to your clients that you have had the proper training to use Direct Neurofeedback. The relevant certificate in the world of neurofeedback is from ISNR or BCIA (Biofeedback Certification International Alliance). Both offer several courses of didactic study and then formal testing. It is a voluntary certification and not required to become certified in Direct Neurofeedback.
